Shinagawatei

This place is amazing. Great food, great staff (honestly amazing, genuine people), great customers. They speak very little English but they tried hard to communicate and the other patrons also tried to help out. The pork belly and the "mustard" that comes with it is probably one of the better dishes I've had in japan. This place deserves its rating. It's small, off the beaten track, but I would highly recommend coming here.

Very authentic and traditional place! The decoration is very unique too. The restaurant has been opened for more than 40 years with 2 generations of the family already. The pork belly with mustard was very tasty. However it can be heavy. I'd share the portion with another person or two. The chicken skewers with wasabi were my favorite. The scallop and xiumai skewers were also so good. They all had great texture and flavour. The sauce that came with the skewers made them even better. Price is very affordable and reasonable. Tips: 1. The place is very small but cozy. It can fit probably max to 8-10 persons. So don't go with a big group. 2. It's a cash only place. 3. It could be difficult to find the place. You can look for the vending machine I posted in a photo to better monitor the way there. If you see a laundry shop, you are very close 4. There's no English menu nor they can speak English. The place is operated by just the mom and her son. They are very friendly but communication can be hard if you don't know Japanese. We were lucky that we met a Canadian and his Japanese friend there when we arrived and they helped us order. If you don't know Japanese, you can study the menu first and just point to the items when you get there to order. I posted a photo of the menu (they are written on the hanging wooden slads)

A small restaurant with charming atmosphere and as I learned yesterday it is famous in Korea. Every little space has a decoration. Owners are very friendly and can speak basic English. Food was delicious.

I just wrapped up dinner here and so happy I did! 1. Really tricky to find so I included a photo of the outside. 2. Place is small maybe 10 people max but all seated. 3. Mother and son are incredibly nice. They have a pocket translater so you can communicate easier. 4. I asked the chef to make anything he wanted. I had several dishes but only posted my favorite which was a tuna sashimi - amazing! 5. Price is high, but the experience was awesome. Definitely recommend. Step out of your tourist comfort zone and do it.

Give this hidden gem some love. The food was absolutely fantastic! It's hidden and there's no English so it might be difficult to order what you wish, but the chef was nice enough to serve me her recommendations regardless. Gave me vibes of family food; highly recommended. Price was more than reasonable given the quality of food.

Interesting experience. This family restaurant is small place with like 8 spaces to sit. They do not speak much english but have small translation device for basic communication. We did not get any menu, the owner just bring us starter and delicious pork for a main course. I really enjoy the visit, they were genuinely nice people. It is incredible you can find such a place just a few blocks from the skyscrapers.

A lovely family run authentic Izakaya. Friendly "master" and his mother serve amazing food. Good selection of Japanese sake and shochu. Charming decor and amazing atmosphere. I had such a lovely time enjoying the food and chatting with master, his mother and fellow diners. Highly recommended!!
